A Farm to Food Bank Initiative
As organic small-scale farmers, our mission is not only to provide our community with a source of fresh, sustainably grown food, but to also ensure that everyone has access to it. As food banks have struggled recently to keep up with increasing demand, we have become even more committed to this mission.
The Alexandria St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank currently serves over 200 households on an ongoing basis, with an average of 40 households relying on the food bank each week. As food banks give out mainly non-perishable items, customers of the Food Bank receive very few fresh vegetables.
Last year, through the generous support of our community and our members, we were able to provide every household visiting the Alexandria food bank with at least 2 fresh vegetables every week. Our goal is to continue providing this support throughout the duration of the growing season, every year!
